In response, Robert Lewandowski scores as Bayern Munich defeats Barcelona yet again: Ratings and reactions

MUNICH, Germany (AP) — Robert Lewandowski's return to Allianz Arena was spoiled by second-half goals from Lucas Hernandez and Leroy Sane as Bayern Munich defeated Barcelona 2-0 in Champions League Group C action.

It was a disappointing return to Bayern for Lewandowski, who is Bayern's second-highest all-time scorer but left in the summer to join the Catalan club after eight years.

Barcelona's poor run of results in Munich continues. The Blaugrana have now failed to win in their last seven trips to Bavaria, drawing twice and losing five times.

Bayern is now the group leader with six points from two games. Barcelona and Internazionale both have three points. Viktoria Plzen finished last.

1. Bayern Munich once again dominates Barcelona

Bayern Munich extended their lead over Barcelona with a 2-0 Champions League Group C victory at the Allianz Arena, their fifth consecutive victory over the LaLiga giants. Two second-half goals in four minutes – a Lucas Hernandez header on 51 minutes followed by Leroy Sane's solo goal three minutes later – were enough to seal the victory and move Bayern to the top of their group.

And with the win, Bayern has now won by a margin of 19 goals to four for Barcelona during their five-game winning streak, which includes the infamous 8-2 quarterfinal victory in Lisbon in 2020. Last season, Barcelona was also defeated 3-0 by Julian Nagelsmann's team. To make matters worse for Barcelona, Bayern Munich has now scored 30 goals against them in the Champions League, nine more than PSG, the second-most prolific team against the Spanish club.

Despite creating a number of first-half chances for Robert Lewandowski, Barcelona never looked like winning in Germany, and they had no response to Bayern's dominant second-half start. Xavi Hernandez's team is clearly rebuilding after losing Lionel Messi to PSG last year, and they looked a level below Bayern, who once again humiliated the five-time Champions League winners.

2. Lewandowski's difficult night in Bayern

Bayern Munich's second-most prolific scorer didn't have to wait long for his first game back after a summer departure, but he had a frustrating night against his former club. Despite being given numerous chances to score, Poland's forward, one of the world's best over the last decade, simply couldn't find his shooting boots.Lewandowski would have silenced the Allianz Arena with a hat-trick even before halftime if he had been able to finish in his usual clinical fashion. However, Lewandowski's radar was off and he missed all of his opportunities. Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer denied him with a reflex save from a header in the 20th minute, but Lewandowski should have scored moments earlier after being set up by Gavi.

Last-ditch challenges from Dayot Upamecano and Noussair Mazraoui also denied Lewandowski when he had a chance, but it was just one of those nights for the 34-year-old.But there was one bright spot in the evening. Lewandowski received a rousing reception from the home fans when he emerged for the pre-match warm-up. There were no boos or jeers, just admiration for his contribution to Bayern's success – but that was all he got.

3. Barcelona and Inter Milan are now tied for second place.

Barcelona thought, or hoped, that their brief taste of the Europa League after failing to qualify from their Champions League group last season was a one-time occurrence, but Tuesday's defeat suggests otherwise.

There's no shame in losing to the perennial Bundesliga champions, but with Bayern now clear at the top of Group C with two wins from two games, second place looks to be a straight fight between Barcelona and Internazionale.

Both European heavyweights have lost to Bayern but beaten Viktoria Plzen, so it all comes down to who performs best when they meet on back-to-back matchdays on October 4 and 12. In addition, Both European heavyweights have lost to Bayern but beaten Viktoria Plzen, so it all comes down to who performs best when they meet on back-to-back matchdays on October 4 and 12. And, with Inter hosting the first game in the San Siro next month, Barcelona knows they cannot afford another defeat on the road in Italy.

Bayern, Barcelona, and Inter are all expected to win all three games against Czech champions Plzen. So everything is on the line between Barcelona and Inter. Last season, Benfica beat Barcelona to second place in the group, but Inter are a stronger team. The Catalans are still in transition under Xavi, so the odds are stacked against them.

Bayern Munich's Leon Goretzka is the best.

The Germany midfielder was only on the field for half an hour, but he changed the game for Bayern by adding power and adventure to the home team's midfield. Marc Andre Ter Stegen saved Goretzka's long-range shot, which led directly to the corner from which Lucas Hernandez scored Bayern's first goal.

WORST: Barcelona's Marcos Alonso.

The Barcelona defender was abused by Bayern Munich's Leroy Sane and appeared to be wishing he had stayed at Chelsea for a quiet life on the substitutes' bench. Alonso has never been quick, so he was a mismatch against Sane from the start.

How to earn $1,000+ a month on Fiverr

How to earn $1,000+ a month on Fiverr I opened my Fiverr account when I was 14 and left it that way for several months before deciding to post my first gig. I received my first order, for $5, in about two weeks. When I eventually finished it, I was overjoyed to see this message. (After Fiverr deducted their commission, I only made $4 instead of $5.) In September, my second month, I worked about nine jobs and earned over $350. After three and a half months, I had earned over $1000. I worked very little during the weekends to earn that money, and for a 15-year-old, it was good money! I stopped and even removed my gig since I was weary and bored of editing videos, but my profile is still active and the ratings are still there.  http://www.fiverr.com/s2/3e3e578cab So how can you use Fiverr to earn some extra cash? All you have to do is develop a skill that can be sold, organize a concert, and promote your offering. It could be challenging at first to attract your first clien...

Ten Apps That Pay $10 Per Day

Ten Apps That Pay $10 Per Day A mobile-friendly method for earning $100 per day online Earlier this year, I wrote a viral article called 10 Websites That Pay $10 Per Day, which became my most successful article to date. The premise was straightforward. Most people who want to make money online set a daily earnings goal of $100. However, it is not always possible to find a single gig or platform that will pay you $100 per day, every day. As a result, rather than attempting to earn your entire earnings target from a single source, you have a much better chance of earning $100 per day from multiple sources. In the case of the article, I used ten websites paying $10 per day for a total of $100 per day. The article's only flaw is that the vast majority of people access the internet via a mobile device. Unfortunately, not every website or earning opportunity is mobile-friendly. That's why I decided to write an article for mobile users who want to make money online with apps. Here ...
